Aztec Noble Statue Historical Background:
The basalt statue originates from the Aztec civilization of Central Mexico, created between the 14th and early 16th centuries. They once likely stood within temples or ceremonial spaces dedicated to gods and seasonal rituals. The figure, wearing a towering head dress and adorned with symbolic elements, might represent Tlaloc, the Aztec rain and fertility god.
